Description	:	William Henry Briggs was a Union Veteran of the Civil War. He was mustered into Company I, 3rd Rhode Island Heavy Artillery, on August 14, 1861. He was discharged on July 18, 1862 on a Surgeons Certificate of disability. Later, he enrolled in Company F of the 2nd Regiment of the Massachusetts Heavy Artillery. Finally he enrolled on September 13, 1864 into Company D, 17th Regiment of the Massachusetts Infantry Volunteers for one year and was discharged a Private on June 30, 1865 at Greensborough, North Carolina. He was admitted into The National Home For Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, also known as the Togus Home, in Randolph, Maine, on October 5, 1899. He was discharged on September 23, 1908 by reason of his own request. He lived out the remainder of his life with some of his descendants in the quaint village of Adamsdale in the southwest corner of North Attleboro. Massachusetts.
