Enlisted on 5/4/1861 at Warren County, NC, he was mustered into "C" Co. NC 12th Infantry as a Private. He was Killed In Action in the Battle of Chancellorsville, VA. The 12th Infantry Regiment, formerly the 2nd Volunteers, was organized near Garysburg, North Carolina, in May, 1861. Its companies were drawn from the counties of Warren, Granville, Catawba, Cleveland, Nash, Duplin, Halifax, and Robeson. This unit sustained 118 casualties at Chancellorsville. |
