Mrs. Virgil Artman, 55-year-old wife of Virgil P. Artman of Ottumwa route 5, died suddenly at her home Monday at 7:25 p.m. The daughter of William A. and Frances J. Hicks, Ashlock, was born February 7, 1893, at East View, Ky., and came to Wapello county in 1919, where she has made her home since. Her marriage to Virgil P. Artman took place March 19, 1915. During her residence here she was a member of the Davis Street Christian church. Mrs. Artman is survived by her husband; two sons, Cofer W. Artman and Glen Artman, both of Ottumwa route 5; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne Boles and Mrs. Robert Shelquist, both of Ottumwa; one grandson, Ronald Boles; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Allen and Mrs. Frank Hastings, both of Ottumwa; and one brother, Earl Ashlock of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by one son, Roger, her parents, and one sister. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. W.R. Friend of the Pentecostal church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.
