| Description | : | Quinton Acors enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 29, 1940 in Richmond, VA. He volunteered for parachutist duty and, after completion of jump school at Ft. Benning, GA, Quinton was assigned to the Regimental Headquarters (HQ HQ) Company of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment. After the regiment conducted 8 months of advanced training at Camp Mackall, NC, Quinton and more than 2,000 others boarded the USAT James Parker in New York City harbor.
