DeForest Ward, 54, well-known resident of the Murray community, died Sunday morning at his farm three miles west of Murray of a heart attack. Mr. Ward had gone out into the farm yard and was absent some time, when the wife walked out to see what was detaining him, and discovered the lifeless body. He was born February 2, 1905 near Caldwell, Kan., son of Henderson and Lottie Ward. He was married March 31, 1933 at Lincoln, to Marie Rowen. Surviving his death are the wife, Mrs. Marie Ward, Murray; daughter, Mrs. Kay Rydberg, Creston, Ia.; three brothers, Charles E. Ward, Slaughter, Ky., Guy I. Ward, Fort Collins, Colo., William O. Ward, Lincoln; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Eads, Harbor City, Calif., Mrs. Nettie Zeffin, Weeping Water. The family have resided in the Weeping Water and Murray communities for the past 23 years where Mr. Ward has been engaged in farming and livestock raising. He was a man highly esteemed by all who had the privilege of knowing him and will be missed in the communities where he has been an outstanding citizen. Funeral services will be held at the Christian church at Weeping Water Wednesday at 2 p.m. Mrs. T. V. Hubbell will officiate at the service. Burial will be at Oakwood cemetery at Weeping Water.
