Description	:	Tipton county lost another of its long time residents Sunday morning when death claimed Mrs. Rachel Irena (Owen) Land, age 81, widow of Lewis Land, at her home near Curtisville. She had been in failing health for some time, and death was attributed to infirmities incident to her advanced years. Mrs. Land was a native of Wabash county, and was born April 13, 1855, the daughter of John and Phoebe Owen. She was twice married, her first husband, Ira Wilford Tyner dying July 21, 1913. Read More	Tipton county lost another of its long time residents Sunday morning when death claimed Mrs. Rachel Irena (Owen) Land, age 81, widow of Lewis Land, at her home near Curtisville. She had been in failing health for some time, and death was attributed to infirmities incident to her advanced years. Mrs. Land was a native of Wabash county, and was born April 13, 1855, the daughter of John and Phoebe Owen. She was twice married, her first husband, Ira Wilford Tyner dying July 21, 1913. Her second husband, Lewis Land, has also been deceased several years. Surviving are four children, Earl Tyner of Curtisville; Obe Tyner of Elwood; Ona, wife of Carl Stack of Gary, and Lizzie, wife of Howard Miller of Sulphur Springs; a sister, Mrs. Anna McVicker, near Marion; twenty grand children and seventeen great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed, but the body will lie in state at the home until the hour of the services, and friends are welcome to call (Tipton Tribune, April 5, 1937) The Friends church in Curtisville was filled Wednesday morning when friends and relatives gathered there to pay their last respects to Mrs. Rachel Land, widow of Lewis Land, who died Sunday morning at her home in Curtisville. The services were in charge of Rev. Polly Couch Bowman of Greentown, and burial was made in the Curtisville cemetery. (Tipton Tribune, April 7, 1937)
