Rains Rachel Millsap was born in Decatur county, Iowa, February 28, 1856, and departed this life at Boulder, Colo., at 7 p.m. Monday, August 8, 1927, aged 71 years, five months and 21 days. Rains Rachel Millsap was born in Decatur county, Iowa, February 28, 1856, and departed this life at Boulder, Colo., at 7 p.m. Monday, August 8, 1927, aged 71 years, five months and 21 days. At the age of nine years she came to Ringgold county where she spent the remainder of her life. On Thanksgiving day, 1874, she was united in marriage with Asa S. Rains and to this union five children were born - Etta Cheers, Arispe, Iowa; George Rains, Nebraska City, Neb.; James Rains, Tingley, Iowa; Alta Benson, Boulder, Colo; Lena Ingram, Afton, Iowa. Besides the children she leaves to mourn her death her husband, one brother, James Millsap, and three sisters, Henrietta Alloway, Sarah Alloway, and Louise Marshall. Mrs. Rains had gone to Boulder to visit her daughter when she was stricken very suddenly and her death came as a sad blow to the husband and children and to the many other relatives and friends, all of whom loved her dearly. When a young girl, she was converted and joined the Methodist church and was faithful to the end. The funeral was held at the home Saturday, August 13, at two o'clock p.m., and was conducted by Rev. T. S. Rhoades. The body was laid to rest in the Benton cemetery.
