Description	:	Rachel was the youngest of ten children born to Robert St. and Elizabeth (Powell) Moore. She married Stephen N. Norris in 1844 and they were the parents of seven children: Mary Elizabeth, Sarah A., John W., George L., DeMoines L., Frank and Robert. Read More	Rachel was the youngest of ten children born to Robert St. and Elizabeth (Powell) Moore. She married Stephen N. Norris in 1844 and they were the parents of seven children: Mary Elizabeth, Sarah A., John W., George L., DeMoines L., Frank and Robert. Rachel Moore Norris Rachel Moore was born in Wilmington, Dearborn county, Indiana, August 13, 1828, and died at her home in Larnard, Kansas, Nov. 22, 1807, aged 69 years, 3 months and 9 days, She was the youngest of thirteen children. Her parents were among the pioneers of Indiana. In 1838, when Rachel was but ten years old, they came to Iowa and settled near Bentonsport, in this, Van Buren county, where they lived until removed by death at a ripe old age, loved and respected. Of the ten boys and three girls of this family, but two are left, i.e. George Moore, of Bentonsport and Robert Moore, of Glasgow, Jefferson county, Iowa. On the 29 of Dec. 1844, she was married to S. N. Norris, who still survives. She was the mother of seven children; one died in infancy, and Elizabeth Bonar who died at Bell Plains, Kansas, leaving three little girls who were taken care for and raised by their grandfather and grandmother Norris. Of the children who survived, there are: Mrs. Sadie Bennett, wife of S. H. Bennett, George and Des Moines Norris, who lived at and near Cantril, Frank Norris, whose home is in Genesco, Kansas, and Robert Norris, whose home is in Burdette, Kansas. these were all present except Des Moines, at the time of her death. In all the relations of life her children have been successful, and are trustworthy, honorable and influential citizens, a credit to their respective neighborhoods. About the year 1850 she joined the Methodist Episcopal church, and even remained a consistent, active member of this organization.
