Read More	From a 1913 Nance County, Nebraska, newspaper clipping file, transcribed by Linda Berney: After an eventful life of 85 years, Mrs. Rachiel Babb, mother of J. M. Babb of this city, passed on to her future reward, from the home of her son, last Sunday morning. Mrs. Babb had previously lived at Dalton, this state, but came to this city to make her home with her son several weeks ago. Old age is given as the cause of her death - a peaceful, quiet, slipping away to the spirit realm while the body slept - a fitting climax to a long, eventful and happy life. The following obituary has been handed to us by the Reverend Mr. Shick: Miss Rachiel Stighner was born in New Jersey in 1828 and came with her parents to Fountain county, Ind., when but a child. Here she grew to girlhood and was united in marriage to John Hack in 1843. To this union two children were born, one of whom survives her and lives a Humboldt, Kan. Mr. Hack died in 1848. She was again united in marriage in 1850 to Benjamin B. Babb; moving with him at that time to Monroe county, Iowa. Eight children came to cheer their home, four boys and four girls, of whom six are still living. They are Mrs. Annie Davis, Lincoln, Nebr., Mrs. Jennine Burris of Portland, Ore., S. H. Babb of Dalton, Nebr., J. M. Babb and E. R. Babb, both of Fullerton and C. P. Babb of Lincoln. These were all present at the funeral except Mrs. Burris and S. H. Babb. Besides those mentioned above and other relatives living in and near Fullerton, Walter Babb, a grandson living at Lincoln was present at the funeral. Her husband, Mr. Babb, died March 7th, 1889. Mrs. Babb united with the Church of Christ when but a girl and remained a faithful member of that church till the time of her death. On August 11, 1913, a family reunion was held at Dalton, Nebr., at which all the surviving members of her family was present to cheer her and help her celebrate the 85th anniversary of her birth. Five weeks ago she was brought to Fullerton where she spent her last days at the home of her son, J. M. Babb, at 11:30 last Sunday morning, Oct. 26, 1913 she fell asleep, dying from weakness incident to her advanced years. Brief funeral services were conducted at the home of her son in Fullerton, Monday morning, by the Rev. John Grant Shick of the Methodist Church. The body was taken to Dalton, Nebr., for burial. -------------------------
