Description	:	Rae Wright Born at his parents home in Petrolia on April 17, 1912, Rae E. Wright died peacefully on September 20, 2006. Rae was one of the last of the original cowboys that drove sheep and cattle to Fernbridge in the 20's from Petrolia, going up the beach to Centerville, if the tides were right, and on to the train at Fernbridge. Read More	Rae Wright Born at his parents home in Petrolia on April 17, 1912, Rae E. Wright died peacefully on September 20, 2006. Rae was one of the last of the original cowboys that drove sheep and cattle to Fernbridge in the 20's from Petrolia, going up the beach to Centerville, if the tides were right, and on to the train at Fernbridge. The cowboys would stay overnight at the Ivanhoe Hotel in Ferndale before heading back home. It cost $1.00 a night room and board and 50 cents for his horse in the stable across the street. He loved recalling the old stories of life growing up in Petrolia. He worked 20 years for the State of California as a dairy inspector, and the remaining years as a sheep and cattle rancher in Miranda and Hydesville. He spent as much time as he could out in the ocean salmon fishing. He fished well into his 80's in his boat the Calpha, named after his fraternity at UC Davis. June 1, 1934, Rae married Marge Kausen who preceded him in death in 1992. They were very generous with their time, always available to help someone in need or visit home bound old friends. Rae loved giving his home made jams, jellies, vegetables and fresh salmon to his family and friends. He is survived by his daughters Marilyn Forsell and husband Warner, Ricky Wright; grandchildren Lynn Langdon, Jody Toste and husband Tim, Andrew Forsell and partner Rick Duque', Matthew Forsell and wife Tammy; great grandchildren Kyle and Morgan Brown, Madison Green, Kory, Korin and Adam Forsell. At his request there will be no funeral. The family would like to thank friends Bob Nelson, Laurie Newman, Jenny Bowen, Betsy Forrest, the Jim and Francie Cook families'; his very good friend Dave Pedrotti who preceded him in death earlier this year. Special thanks to Linnie Wolfe for his many visits and the wood and kindling. We would also like to thank St. Luke staff for the loving care he experienced in the week he was a patient there. Memorial contributions may be made to Miranda's Rescue, St. Luke Manor, Hospice of Humboldt, or the Humboldt Senior Resource Center, or to a charity of choice. Following is a poem written by great grandson Kory Forsell, age 14. This was written the night of his Great Papa's death. Rae Wright I once knew a man, Who was ever prevailing. Like the largest of Mountains, Whose will never failing. To the winds of life, Challenging those who stand tall. Never defeated, Never to fall. A single man, Whose heart ever youthful Strong and kind, and a little too truthful. It the battle for life, This man always fought. Even when it seemed, that all was for naught. To everyone's story, there comes an end. This single man's memory, I'll forever defend.
