Description	:	Ralend M. Lee, 66, of Viborg, passed away Wednesday July 16, 2008, at his home after a battle with cancer. Ralend was born May 1, 1942 at Yankton to Praben and Dagmar (Hansen) Lee. He grew up on the family homestead near the Pearson City area. He was baptized and confirmed at Meldal Church, rural Irene. He attended Lonestar Country School and graduated from Viborg High School in 1960. Ralend married his high-school sweetheart, Elaine (Jensen) on June 23, 1962 at Spring Valley Church. Lee, 66, of Viborg, passed away Wednesday July 16, 2008, at his home after a battle with cancer. Ralend was born May 1, 1942 at Yankton to Praben and Dagmar (Hansen) Lee. He grew up on the family homestead near the Pearson City area. He was baptized and confirmed at Meldal Church, rural Irene. He attended Lonestar Country School and graduated from Viborg High School in 1960. Ralend married his high-school sweetheart, Elaine (Jensen) on June 23, 1962 at Spring Valley Church. There were 6 children from this union, 4 sons and 2 daughters. He enjoyed farming, horse trading, buying and selling scrap iron and parts. He owned and operated Lee Salvage for 35 years. His business brought many people to the Lee farm from all over. He had regulars that came from Canada and Mexico. His wife, Elaine, of 46 years always had the coffee pot on and lunch for their many visitors and customers. Ralend also loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren. He loved to go to dances and will be missed as a dance partner. He had special out-of -state hunters that come every year and would stay with the family and have formed strong bonds. Ralend is survived by his wife, Elaine, Viborg, children: Brenda Lee (special friend Ian Vik), Yankton, Kevin (Kay) Lee, Viborg, Kim (Tina) Lee, Irene. Sheila (Jay) Jorgensen, Viborg and Kenny Lee, Viborg, also daughter-in-law Janet Lee wife of the Late Kyle Lee, Freeman, twin brother, Robert (Mariann) Lee, Viborg, fifteen grandchildren: Jennifer (Andrew) O'Connor, Fort Lewis, WA; Adam (Chelsy) Lee, Freeman; Beth Lee, Freeman; Ashley Lee, Yankton; Rick Pearson, Yankton; Katie, Kolton, Kolby, Kallie Lee, Viborg; Morgan, Taylor, Dallas Lee, Irene; Courtney, Cody, Clay Jorgensen, Viborg, four great-grandchildren: Kylen O'Connor, Fort Lewis, WA; Keanna Lee and Carson Podzimek, Yankton; Hayes Spelburg, Mitchell and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Ralend is preceded in death by his father and mother, Praben and Dagmar Lee; his brother, Duane; sister, Helen and son Kyle. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Friday, July 18, 2008 at the Irene, Community Center, with Pastor Steven Unzicker officiating. Burial will follow in Meldal Cemetery, rural Irene, SD. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Thursday, July 17 with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 pm at the Hansen Funeral Home in Irene.
