Read More	Lone Tree, Iowa – Ralph Slaughter, 81, of Lone Tree, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at his home following a sudden illness. Visitation will be 5 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 27, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lone Tree. Burial will be at the Lone Tree Cemetery with military rites by the Lone Tree American Legion Post No. 457. Casketbearers will be Ralph's grandchildren. Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion. Mr. Slaughter was born on April 9, 1926, in Louisa County, the son of Raymond and Grace (Thomas) Slaughter. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Strong. On June 2, 1949, he married Ernestine Bulger in riverside. He owned and operated Ralph's Barber Shop in Lone Tree and had previously worked at the University of Iowa in the registrars office and H. J. Heinz in Iowa City. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lone Tree, Lone Tree Fire Department, past city councilman, and a life member of the Lone Tree American Legion Post N. 457. He enjoyed camping with the local campers, driving around the area with his dog, but most of al, he dearly loved to spend time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by his children, Roger Slaughter and his wife, Sue of Hills, Linda Sojka and husband, Jay of Lone Tree, Lois Schneider and husband, Robert of Riverside, Anita Forbes and husband, Rick of Lone Tree, Mike Slaughter and wife, Lori of Keota, Lisa Lorack and husband, Randy of Lone Tree and Greg Slaughter and wife, Jackie of Gold Canyon, Ariz.' 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Judy Bulger of Riverside, Helen Slaughter and Shirley slaughter, both of Iowa City, and his special dog, Diego. He was preceded in Death by his parents; wife, Ernestine on May 22, 1997; two granddaughters in infancy; two sisters, Zelma "Toots" and Gladys and four brothers, Everett, Frederick, Raymond and Eldon.
