Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church southwest of Pender, with Rev. Richard Pingel officiating. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. at Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender. Family members will be present from 6:30-8 p.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church southwest of Pender, with Rev. Richard Pingel officiating. Ralph was born April 1, 1915 in Cuming County to Edward and Hulda (Longe) Breitbarth. He was baptized in May 1915 by Pastor Eckhart and was confirmed in June 1928 by Rev. Robert Kruse at St. John's Lutheran Church. He attended rural school at District 61. Ralph worked on the family farm and at the age of 16, he worked as a hired hand for various farmers. On Jan. 25, 1938, he married Mylet Burmester at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender. They lived on a farm west of Pender for 11 years and, in 1952, moved to a farm southwest of Pender. Mylet died June 16, 1975. Ralph was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He served as an usher, was on the finance committee and also served on the school board at District 61. Ralph farmed all his life and enjoyed gardening, too. He enjoyed ballroom dancing and belonged to a square dance club. On March 30, 1979, he married Arlie Pinkley of Fremont at the First Lutheran Church in Fremont. In 1989, Ralph retired from farming and, in 1990, moved to Fremont. In 2005, he and his wife moved to Shalimar Gardens Assisted Living Center. Ralph is survived by his wife of Fremont; one son, Brian and wife Donna of Fargo, N.D.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Karen Hoier and husband Larry of Des Moines, Don Pinkley of Lincoln and Jolene Wieser of Omaha; seven step-granddaughters and 10 step-grandsons; two brothers Harry and Arthur and wife Oma of West Point; one sister, Edna Bettenhausen of West Point as well as several nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by his first wife; three brothers, Leroy, Emery and Myron; three brothers-in-law, Wilmer Bettenhausen, Merle Burmester and Joe Welsh; four sisters-in-law, Elaine Breitbarth, Phyllis Breitbarth, Myrtle Welsh and Betty Burmester; and one stepson, Lyle Pinkley. A memorial service for Theodore Rihanek will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Shorewood 4 Square Church in Seattle, Wash. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Theodore, the son of Jim and Stella Rihanek, graduated from Thurston High School. He married Florence Mae Doupnik in Thurston, and to this union, four children were born, Sharon, Mary, Carolyn and John. He was raised in the Thurston area.
