He was born in Bay City November 18, 1895 and had been a lifetime resident. On August 30, 1930 he married the former Selina Kinsey. She survives. He was a life member of American Legion Harding Olk Post No. 18, Barracks 74 and a life member of Bay Lodge No. 129 F. & A.M. Mr. Close was member of Fremont United Methodist Church, the Golden Age Club and the Retirees Club, and was a retired employee of Consumers Power Co. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Penzien Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Marble will officiate with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Memorial cards for the Fremont Methodist Church will be available at the funeral home. Friends may call after 7:00 p.m. Friday. Chapel visiting hours are 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 p.m., Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Barracks No. 74, WWII Veterans will hold a Memorial service for Mr. Close at the Funeral Home.
