Description	:	Ralph Denver Brausey, the son of Ralph August Brausey and Ruby Ann Stotts Brausey, was born September 16, 1924 in Boone, IA. Read More	Ralph Denver Brausey, the son of Ralph August Brausey and Ruby Ann Stotts Brausey, was born September 16, 1924 in Boone, IA. His childhood years were spent in Boone where he received his education. He stopped attending school at the age of 16, and went to work at the railroad and as a pin setter at the Boone Bowling alley to help provide for the family. Growing up during the depression, Ralph knew hunger. He went days on only a slice of bread, a small glass of milk and water. He made a vow his children would never have to experience that. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Ralph married Dorothy Maxine Domer on September 19, 1946 in Kansas. Following their marriage, they lived in the communities of Boone, Waterloo, and Des Moines, until moving to Spencer, IA, in 1964. Ralph was an accountant doing work as an auditor for various companies over the years. He retired from the Farmer's Cooperative Elevator in Everly in 1998. He was a member of Christ The King Lutheran Church in Spencer, where he served in many offices of the church and was active in the Lutheran Laymen's Organization. In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking, reading, genealogy, researching the civil war and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Ralph and Dorothy loved to travel. They toured Germany, Austria and England, as well as taking a cruise to Alaska and traveling to Reno, NV, to visit their son. For the last 10 years they spent their winters in Tennessee. He passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016, at the age of 91. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 2012, his parents; one brother, John Brausey; one sister, Doris Halstead. Left to cherish his memory are his 10 children: Clinton (Wanda) Brausey of Norfolk, NE, Grace Fortner of Tacoma, WA, Ralph Gary (Judy) Brausey of Spencer, IA, Mary (Leon) Daniel of Clarksville, TN, Colleen (Robert) Dillard of Dickens, IA, Mark (Rhonda) Brausey of Bayview, ID, Ruby (Bill) Nitzel of Spencer, IA, Laura Groth (fiance Dean Hamann) of Spencer, IA, Paul (Jennifer) Brausey of Spencer, IA and Robert Brausey of Kansas City, MO; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Harold) Gildea and Betty Gates, of Boone, IA; other relatives and many friends.
