Creek, who underwent a serious stomach operation at Rochester, Minnesota, in October 1960 recovered sufficiently to return to his job as mail carrier and until recently continued to participate in golf and square dancing. After surgery failed to effect a permanent cure, Ralph volunteered for a series of experimental treatments under the direction of doctors at the Mayo Clinic at Rochester. An active member of the American Legion, Ralph held a number of local offices as well as serving a term as county commander. He was also active in the Methodist Church. He was an avid square dance enthusiast, having achieved national prominence as a caller. He devoted a great deal of time to instructing adults and young folks in the pastime. He was influential in organizing the Correctionville Swingers Club and Teen Twirlers and was honored this spring at the 10th anniversary of the Swingers, where he called his last square dance. The Northwest Iowa Callers Assn. of which he was a member, honored Ralph with a dance in Storm Lake in October 1961. Creek called square dances at the National Square Dance conventions in Des Moines in 1960 and Denver in 1959. He and his protégé, Larry Edwards, recently released a square dance record in which both participated. Funeral services will be held in the Correctionville Methodist church at 2 p.m. Saturday with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Anthon, Iowa, with graveside military rites. Arrangements are under direction of Wilson-Hull Funeral Home.
