Germann, 74, Hiawatha, died Friday, Aug. 3, at a Kansas City, Kan. hospital where he was admitted a week ago. He had Leukemia. Mr. Germann was Russell County Agricultural Agent before World War II and later worked for the Allied Military Government several years. He then worked for the U.S. State Department in Italy, Yugoslavia, Tunisia, Libya and Brazil. He also worked for the UNRRA and FAO before he retired in 1971. Germann, 74, Hiawatha, died Friday, Aug. 3, at a Kansas City, Kan. hospital where he was admitted a week ago. He had Leukemia. Mr. Germann was Russell County Agricultural Agent before World War II and later worked for the Allied Military Government several years. He since lived in Rome, Italy, and Hiawatha. He was a veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart Award. He was born April 29, 1910, near Fairview, the son of Walter and Clara Hochstetler Germann. He was graduated from Fairview High School, Kansas State College of Agriculture at Manhattan and did graduate work at Pennsylvania State University, University Park. Mr. Germann was a member of the United Church of Christ at Fairview, and Lions Club and Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1741, both at Hiawatha. He was married to Lena Passerni Dec. 23, 1953. She survives. Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Beulah Fisher, Holton; and a brother, Henry Germann, Hiawatha. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Casselman-Meek Funeral Home in Hiawatha. Burial will be in Isely Cemetery, northwest of Fairview. Memorial contributions may be made to Brown County Chapter of American Cancer Society.
