April 26, 1945 - Emmetsburg Democrat - Funeral services for Ralph H. Wood, who died suddenly Friday, on a train near Lenex, S.D. were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Assembly of God church with the Rev. Keneth Fogelman, psstor, officiating at the services. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery with the Joy Funeral home in charge of the arrangements. Serving as pall bearers were Leo Moser, Lewis DeMoss, Ted Clarke, Tommy Jackson, Clarence Jackson, and George Brown. American Legion members and other military groups attended the services in a body. Mr. Wood was born in Carroll county January 22, 1862 and lived there for many years. He was 53 at the time of his death. He married Miss Mary Myers many years ago, her death occurring in 1935. He came here in 1926 and has operated a large potato farm years. He was united in marriage to Stella Semeneck. Besides his wife he is also survived by eight children. They are Evelyn Boyer of Cylinder, Harold and Donald at Rodman, and William, Marilyn, Helen, Theresa, and Dorothy an at home. He is also survived by several brothers, a sister, and five grandchildren. Mr. Wood had a wide acquaintance in Palo Alto county. He had gone to South Dakota last week to receive medical treatment from a specialist, and his death en route home was unexpected. Of a friendly personality, Mr. Wood was a successful farmer and his untimely death is mourned by a large number of friends. He was a veteran of World War I. To his wife and children sincere sympathy is extended in their loss.
