Description	:	Ralph H. Hopp, 87, of St. Paul, on Feb. 7, peacefully at home after a long battle with Parkinson's. His sense of humor, gentleness and integrity will be missed by all who knew him in his long, rich life. Born on his family's farm in Cook, Neb., 1915, he received his Ph.D. degree from the U of Illinois. For more than 30 years he was on the U of M faculty, administering the library system (Director from 1971-76) where he left a legacy of improvements. His sense of humor, gentleness and integrity will be missed by all who knew him in his long, rich life. Born on his family's farm in Cook, Neb., 1915, he received his Ph.D. degree from the U of Illinois. For more than 30 years he was on the U of M faculty, administering the library system (Director from 1971-76) where he left a legacy of improvements. In 1962-63 Ralph was a Fulbright Lecturer at the U of Ankara, Turkey. He was active in national professional organizations, and his home neighborhood, St. Anthony Park. Ralph found time for many interests - skiing, camping, canoeing, fishing, tennis and golf, as well as bird watching, woodworking and travel. An accomplished musician, he played the guitar, piano and fiddle. Since 1959, Ralph enjoyed the family cabin in Amery, Wisc. He also wrote two books. Survived by beloved wife of 62 years, Dorothy; son, Thomas (Lorraine) of Steamboat Springs, CO; daughter, Susan (Karl Schweikart) of Mpls; and grandsons, Brian and Colin.
