Description	:	Ralph Mead, 67, former Rhodes resident, died Monday at Texarkana, Texas, where he had been making his home for the past 12 years. Born June 1, 1919 at Rhodes, he was the son of William I and Agnes Randleman Mead. He received his education in Rhodes and was graduated from the Rhodes High School. On October 14, 1941 he was married to Marjorie Pfantz and after serving in the Army Medical Corps during World War II, they made their home in Des Moines, where he was employed by Firestone Rubber Co. Born June 1, 1919 at Rhodes, he was the son of William I and Agnes Randleman Mead. He received his education in Rhodes and was graduated from the Rhodes High School. On October 14, 1941 he was married to Marjorie Pfantz and after serving in the Army Medical Corps during World War II, they made their home in Des Moines, where he was employed by Firestone Rubber Co. Mr Mead also owned and operated hotels in Des Moines and Carroll before to Texarkana where he managed the Greyhound Lines and Western Union for several years. Surviving are his widow, three sons and three daughter: John Mead of Des Moines; Greg Mead of Fort Worth, Texas; Jeff Mead of Texarkana; Patricia Catlin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Debbie William of Dallas, Texas and Barbara Mead of Texarkana. Also surviving are five grandchildren, two sisters and a brother, Muriel Princehouse of Fullerton, California; Phyllis Bechtel of Springfield, Missouri and Phillip Mead of Greeley, Colorado. Services will be held at St Paul Lutheran Church in State Center Thursday with Rev R D Ehlers officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Marshalltown.
