Read More	From Nevada Evening Journal May 30, 1927 (page 1) WORLD WAR VETERAN ANSWERED "TAPS" ROY JONES DIED FRIDAY AND BURIED SUNDAY WITH FULL MILITARY HONORS Ralph Leroy Jones, 38, World War veteran of this city, died at the Edward Hines hospital at Maywood, Illinois, Friday morning of Hodgkins disease. The body, accompanied by his wife, arrived in Nevada Saturday morning over the Northwestern, and was taken at once to the Bishop Funeral home. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock under the ritualistic ceremonies of the American Legion, the sermon being preached by Chaplin L. E. Watson of the Nevada Post American Legion, of which the deceased was a member. Interment was in the Nevada cemetery with full military honors. Ralph Leroy Jones, better known here as "Roy" Jones, was born in Nevada township, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Jones and was 38 years of age on Tuesday, May 24 before his death on Friday. He had lived practically his entire life in or near Nevada and from here went to the service in the World War. Roy Jones enlisted in the service July 25, 1918, spent but a short time in camps in this country and went overseas as a private in Company B 331st U. S. Infantry in which he served in February of 1919. He was married to Miss Jessie Margaret Beem in Boone, March 12, 1926. They made their home in Nevada until his health became such that it was necessary that he give up his work and received hospital treatment. After examination by physicians in the Disabled Veterans service he was sent to Maywood, Ill., where he was placed in Edward Hines Junior hospital for treatment. He leaves besides his wife, three brothers and five sisters. The brothers are Leo of Des Moines, Frank of Dallas county and John Henry Jones of near Nevada. The sisters are Mrs. Clara Kimball and Mrs. Fannie Haines of Boone, Mrs. Mattie Guge, Mrs. Lena Maroney and Mrs. Ollie Myers of this city.
