"Smoky" Bogart, 81, Beatrice, died Sunday, June 24, 2001. Mr. Bogart was born March 14, 1920, at Gypsum and was a lifetime area resident, moving to Beatrice in 1999. He was Postmaster of the Gypsum Post Office for 30 years retiring in 1976. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a former member of the Gypsum City Cemetery board, and a member of the Smoky Valley Genealogical Society, Salina. He and his wife, Dixie, established Bogart’s Library of People which contained genealogical information from Saline and surrounding counties. This information can be found at the Smoky Valley Genealogical Society in Salina. Survivors include his wife, Dixie of Wymore; a son, Lynn of Wymore; two daughters, Marjorie Nickell of Dallas and Diana K. Sisson of Huntsville, Ala.; a brother, Wayne of Wichita; a sister, Artha Sippel of Assaria, Kans.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Burial will be in Gypsum Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ralph Bogart Memorial Fund to benefit the Kansas Room at Salina Public Library. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.
