Survivors include a brother, Glenn (Ruth) Driscoll of Colorado; two sons, Allen (Paula) Driscoll of Colorado, Marvin Driscoll of Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren; his loving companion Bernadine Roberts and her children, David (Nancy) McShane, Vern (Debbie) McShane, Sara (Bob) Lawrence, and John (Susie) LaMar and their families whom Ralph considered his adopted families; and his little Boston Terrier, Emmy. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles; and a sister. Ralph was born near Holbrook to Clement J. Driscoll and Esther Irene Lenoch Driscoll on February 13, 1924. He graduated from St. Pat's High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as AMM3C. Ralph was a mechanic, carpenter/contractor, and a teacher. He was in business with his father in Cedar Rapids and later taught carpentry/construction at Kirkwood for 5 years. Ralph assisted Dr. Lippisch with his airplane Delta wing design. He enjoyed flying Antique Airplanes and owned several before giving up flying due to ill health. Ralph was a member of the Antique Airplane Association, OX5 Aviation Pioneers of America, American Legion Wapsie Post No. 421 of Central City, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a lifetime member of the Central City Historical Society. Ralph was a devoted companion and a friend to all who knew him. He was always ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He will be greatly missed by those who crossed his path. A memorial fund has been established in Ralph's honor with proceeds donated to Hospice of Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids."
