The Wetherells were prominent families in New England and several of the family served in the American Revolution. He married (1) Clarissa Meech October 7, 1846 in East Haddam, Connecticut, daughter of Ephraim Meech and Sophia Hilliard. The Wetherells were prominent families in New England and several of the family served in the American Revolution. He married (1) Clarissa Meech October 7, 1846 in East Haddam, Connecticut, daughter of Ephraim Meech and Sophia Hilliard. She was born November 26, 1825 in East Haddam, Connecticut, and died March 27, 1899 in Clarks, Nebraska. He married (2) Amanda Cosner September 18, 1901 in Clarks, Nebraska. She was born Abt. 1850 in Ohio, and died 1909. He enlisted in Co B, 93rd Illinois Infantry, on Oct 13, 1862 at Malden, Ill, & was mustered out, Jan 23, 1865. According to family history published by his grandson-in-law, he came to Illinois in 1846. During the Civil War he fought under "Old Glory". He was a nurse in the Civil War, and lived in Maiden, IL at the time. He came to Clarks in 1879 because his daughter Irene and husband lived there... he was a wagon maker, later went on to buy a furniture store. after the death of his first wife, he moved to Fullerton to be near relatives, after the death of his second wife, he moved in sep 1912 to the Nebraska Soldiers and Sailors home in Burkett. He was buried alongside his second wife and since he died destitute, whatever marker was once there has disappeared. His grave is unmarked except for the small metal emblem symbolizing his status as a veteran of the Union Army. died at age 89. Ralph Wetherell was a beloved father and grandfather. He traveled around the country, visiting family in Weiser, Idaho, and also traveling to Memphis and to California.
