Description	:	Ralph W. Yoder Ralph Yoder, 90 of Brule, Nebraska and a former Chappell resident died Wednesday morning, April 13, 2011 at the Ogallala Community Hospital in Ogallala, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, April 16, 2011 in the Holechek Funeral Home in Chappell, Nebraska with Pastor Art Roth officiating. Friday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Chappell. Ralph Willard Yoder was born on his grandfather's farm seven miles north east of Chappell, Nebraska, August 13, 1920. He was the third son of Ezra J. and Minerva (Stutzman) Yoder. He was raised in the same community and received the first eight years of education in a one room schoolhouse, Bellvue school District 31. He then attended high school in Chappell, Nebraska graduating May 20, 1938. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corp in September 1941. On August 13, 1942 Ralph joined the United States Air Force where he served 4 years during World War II. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. After discharge from active duty he served 3 years in the Air Force Reserve being discharged on Feb 6, 1949. On September 5, 1945 he was married to Vivian Dwyer in Shreveport, Louisiana. They lived in St. Joseph, Missouri where he worked for Union stockyards. They were divorced in 1955. In July of 1958 he moved to Chappell, Nebraska, where he worked for Skelley Oil Company for several years. On May 20, 1964 he married Zelma Logsdon Hall at the Methodist Church in Chappell. They made their home in Chappell for the next 28 years. He farmed with the Peterson Corporation until the fall of 1982 when he retired. He and Zelma enjoyed retirement until her passing in February 1992. In August of 1995 he moved to Brule where he lived until his death. Ralph is survived by his brother Kenneth Yoder of Ogallala, NE., one sister in law Lydia Yoder of Filer, ID, Three nieces: Cindy Salsman of Grant NE., Shirley Biladeau of Boise, ID and Sandra Reichert of Virginia; four nephews: Darwin Yoder, DVM of Big Springs, NE., Andy Yoder of Wellington, CO, Ted Yoder of Spring Hill, KS and Randy Yoder of Las Vegas, NV, and a special friend June Sherman of Brule, NE He was preceded in death by his wife Zelma, his parents Ezra and Minerva Yoder, and two brothers, Clayton and William. Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations in Chappell is serving the Yoder family.
