Description	:	Ramona "Monie" Zediker, 77, of Burlington, was called home to our Lord in heaven on Tuesday, November 2, 2011, while surrounded by her loving family. Ramona was born May 22, 1934 in Ute, Iowa to Herman and Josephine Brummer. She grew up in Iowa and graduated from Mapleton High School in 1952. The couple made... Read More	Ramona "Monie" Zediker, 77, of Burlington, was called home to our Lord in heaven on Tuesday, November 2, 2011, while surrounded by her loving family. Ramona was born May 22, 1934 in Ute, Iowa to Herman and Josephine Brummer. She grew up in Iowa and graduated from Mapleton High School in 1952. She continued her education at Wayne State Teaching College in Wayne, Nebraska from 1952-1954. After graduating, Ramona's first teaching position was at Charter Oak, Iowa where she taught third grade for two years before marrying her high school sweetheart, George Delano Zediker on June 25th, 1956. The couple made their first home in Mapleton, Iowa where they welcomed their first child, Joel Dean Zediker. Shortly after, they relocated to Moscow, Idaho where George was employed in construction at Washington State College. Two years later, they settled permanently in Burlington, Washington, where their family was made complete with daughters, Laura Lee and Amy Lynn. After staying home with her family for several years, Ramona returned to college at Western Washington University in Bellingham to update her teaching credentials. Ramona taught for 40 years - 37 of which were with the Burlington-Edison School District. Her passion for teaching children is unsurpassed and as she always stated, "I teach the best: I teach Kindergarten". By the time of her retirement, Ramona was teaching her third generation of students. She cherished each and every one and loved being remembered by them. Ramona enjoyed league bowling, camping with her family, cooking, flowers and her grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband, George; children, Joel (Jamie) Zediker, Laura (Ron) Van Soest, and Amy (Robert) Dowen; and her grandchildren, Zachary (Chikage) Zediker, Taryn Zediker, Sean Starks, Reed Sinnott, Megan Carabba, Mario Lopez, Bethany Carabba, Alyssa (Jeff) Hauenstein, Elli Dowen, and Gabriella Dowen; two great-grandchildren, Alias Sanchez and Kamein Lopez; as well as sisters, Rozena Jonas, and Alice Armstrong and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Josephine Brummer; two brothers, Roland "Bud" Brummer and Raymond Brummer; and three sisters, Ruth Condit, Rita Revak, and Rosella Mohrhauser; and a son-in-law, John Peter Carabba. Ramona was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We were so very blessed to have her in our lives. She will be missed by many. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ramona's caregivers Linda and Betty, and nurse Roberta. Please send any donations to Skagit Hospice. Rosary services will be held Monday, November 7, 2011 at 6:00pm at St. Charles Church in Burlington, with a funeral mass following on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 10:00am. Viewing will be Saturday and Sunday from 9:00-5:00 and Monday from 9:00-1:00 at Hulbush Funeral Home, Burlington.
