Read More	Skagit Valley Herald Mount Vernon, Washington Wednesday, 2 May 2007 Ramona Mae Tesch, age 78, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 29, 2007, after a five year stay at Burton's Care Center in Burlington. With Burton's being just a few blocks from the family home, she welcomed daily visits from her husband, Al (or Max as many knew him). But, since Al's death last December, Ramona longed to be with him daily. Her nine-year battle with three cancers of the lung/heart, colon and brain had caused her much grief, but she never complained or wanted to be a burden for her family. The daughter of Norris and Marion (Waldron) Anderson, Ramona was an only child born March 20, 1929 in Lisbon, North Dakota. She attended schools in the North Dakota and Minneapolis, MN, area until 1946. Many of her mother's families [the Waldrons and the Devitts] had left the eroded farmlands of the Dakotas to come to the west coast during World War II. Her parents finally came and settled in the Skagit County area where Ramona graduated in 1947 from Burlington-Edison High School. She always reminisced that, shortly after high school, she and Al had met while working at Washington Co-op. They married on April 8, 1949 and their love blossomed and grew. They celebrate 57 years just before Al's death. Since Max's retirement in 1988, Mona and Al spent half of every year traveling to their other home in Yuma Arizona. Mona loved her crafts and became quite skilled at zipper art and tap dancing. Both she and Al were avid bowlers and vacationed in their motor home with the "Elkherd", based in Mt. Vernon. Their greatest passion was their 23-year involvement at Skagit Speedway. The hot pink No. 77 Super Modified was Al's love, but Mona's pride and joy was her hot pink 1964½ Mustang that has graced the streets of Burlington for over forty years. She and Al took three wonderful trips since retirement to Australia, the Panama Canal and Alaska. Ramona is survived by her three daughters: Jody and Bill Sorenson of Nooksack; Toni and Dan Vance of Mt. Vernon and Nikki and Dan Lenhart of Arlington; four grandsons: Ryan and Michelle Neff of Bellingham; Bryan and Terry Vance of Mt. Vernon and Chris Vance of Bellingham; plus two great grandchildren: Kaia and Carson Neff of Bellingham. The family would like to thank Burton's Care Center for their unconditional love and support through the five years. Also, they are very grateful to the staff at Hawthorne Funeral Home and Memorial Park for their help and service throughout these last four months. A dual memorial service is being planned for mid-June for Mona and Al together. They lived a robust life side-by-side and died 16 weeks apart, it only seems fitting that their lives should be celebrated together. Arrangements are under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon.
