Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday August 31, 2020, at the Ames Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Ernest Amstalden from Victory Christian Fellowship in Jewell, Iowa, officiating. Randy Jay Silverthorn was born February 12, 1960, in Ames, the son of Claude Wesley and Deloris Evon (Davis) Silverthorn. He attended Meeker Elementary, Central Junior High and graduated in 1980 from Ames Senior High School. Randy worked as a carpenter most of his life, working throughout Iowa, Minnesota, and Colorado, where he lived for a short time. He married Dawn Lynn Lewis and to this union three children were born. They later divorced. Randy married Lorie Reinsma and to this union, one son was born. They later divorced. He enjoyed and raced motocross for a number of years and received numerous awards and trophies. The family has many fond memories of camping at Little Wall Lake in Jewell and at the Episcopal Center in Boone. Randy was a happy go-lucky kid growing up and loved to go fishing and hunting pheasants. Randy is survived by his four children, Amber Dawn, Michael Jay, Danielle Marie all of Minnesota, and Jason Wesley of North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; sister, Deborah (Richard) Engelhardt of Ames; two brothers, Darrell Silverthorn of Ames and Farrell (Tanya) Silverthorn of DeForest, Wisconsin. He is preceded in death by his father, Claude Wesley Silverthorn on December 9, 1989, and mother, Deloris Evon (Davis) Silverthorn on September 11, 2007; maternal grandparents, Lesley Albert Davis on December 28, 1966, and Clara Evelyn Josephine (Odin) Davis on December 5, 2009; paternal grandparents, Claude Phillip Silverthorn on December 4, 1968, and Mabel Maude (Miller) Silverthorn on February 22, 1988.
