Died at his residence in Milford, Nebr., Saturday, Jan. 27, 1917, at 7:15 p.m., Ransom W. Bailey, at the age of 74 years (according to records of the Soldiers and Sailors Home). He was born in Bradford county, Pennsylvania, April 23, 1842. Enlisted Oct. 16, 1862, during the Civil War, as a private in Co A 171st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and was discharged on August 8, 1863, at Harrisburg, Penn., by reason of expiration of term of service. He was born in Bradford county, Pennsylvania, April 23, 1842. Enlisted Oct. 16, 1862, during the Civil War, as a private in Co A 171st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and was discharged on August 8, 1863, at Harrisburg, Penn., by reason of expiration of term of service. He was admitted to the Soldiers and Sailors Home as a member on May 21, 1907, and has been one of the most consistent members of the Home. He leaves behind him to mourn his loss his wife, Clarinda Bailey of Milford, Mrs. C. L. Bailey of Elmwood, Nebr., Mr. Charles G. Bailey, nephew, of Elmwood, Nebr., and other relatives, none of whom were present at his death. Monday at 1:30 p.m. a short service was held at the Home and at 2 p.m. the funeral service was conducted from the S and S Home by Rev. R. N. Throckmorton, after which Rev. Thomas Davis delivered the eulogy and then the remains were interred in Blue Mound cemetery. The chapel at the home was well filled with Comrades and friends.
