Description	:	Ray Dunn Berry, 86, resident of 126 Cumberland Court, died February 18, 2013, at Self Regional Medical Center. Born March 16, 1926, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Claud B. and Emmie Coleman Berry. Ray grew up in Ninety Six and was a 1943 graduate of Ninety Six High School. Read More	Ray Dunn Berry, 86, resident of 126 Cumberland Court, died February 18, 2013, at Self Regional Medical Center. Born March 16, 1926, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Claud B. and Emmie Coleman Berry. Ray grew up in Ninety Six and was a 1943 graduate of Ninety Six High School. He served in the US Navy in the South Pacific during World War II, serving aboard the destroyer, USS Alfred A. Cunningham and was a participant in the Battle of Okinawa. He returned to civilian life in 1946, and graduated from Newberry College in 1949, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in the Natural Sciences. He taught math and science at Ninety Six High School as well as serving as a coach for both the boy's and girl's basketball teams and the football team his first year out of college. During the fall of 1950, he would begin a 38 year career in banking and would eventually retire as a vice president of Banker's Trust in 1988. He served on the Ninety Six School District #52 Board of Trustees from 1960 to 1963, was past commander of the American Legion Post 103 and was past president of the Ninety Six Lions Club. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher for more than 50 years as well as serving in various departments of the church. Surviving are a brother, Harry D. Berry of Ninety Six and a niece, Suzanne Berry (Moffatt) Burriss of Chapin along with two great-nephews, Thomas Burriss and David Burriss and many cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Claude Coleman Berry and a sister-in-law, Ruth B. Berry. Graveside at Elmwood Cemetery in Ninety Six. Blyth Funeral Home.
