Read More	Obituary from The Montana Standard 12/28/2009: Ray Frances Peterson, 86, died at his home on Dec. 20, 2009. He was born in Warm Springs on Oct. 28, 1923, to Julius and Annie Peterson. Ray attended Silver Deer Grade School and graduated from Anaconda High School. Ray enlisted in the military and served as a Marine. After many years of service, he was honorably discharged. Ray worked for the Anaconda Company in the Foundry Department and later went to work for the Morton Salt Company in Salt Lake City, Utah. After his retirement from the Morton Salt Company, Ray returned to his ranch in the Deer Lodge Valley. Ray was a very talented artist. He loved to carve and sculpt out of wood. He also worked with and trained horses. These horses would compete and perform in various shows. Ray was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served the Lord for all of his life. Two sons, Kit Peterson and Todd Ray Peterson; sister, Lois Moreland; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives survive Ray. His parents; three brothers, Harry, Elver and Wendell; and four sisters, Verda, Donna, Ruth and Catherine preceded him in death. Memorials in honor of Ray may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, 10 a.m. at the LDS Church. Interment will follow in Lower Hill Cemetery with military honors presented by the American Legion Color Guard. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, 5 to 7 p.m. at the KT Riddle Funeral Home Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.
