Description	:	Ray McKim, eldest son of Joseph James and Florence Nordyke McKim, was born April 19, 1893, at the home of maternal grandparents near Princeton, Mo. In 1908, the family who had lived near Chillicothe, Mo., and Moline, Il., moved to a farm on the state line near Lamoni, Ia. Here they lived until the death of his parents in 1934 and 1937. Read More	Ray McKim, eldest son of Joseph James and Florence Nordyke McKim, was born April 19, 1893, at the home of maternal grandparents near Princeton, Mo. In 1908, the family who had lived near Chillicothe, Mo., and Moline, Il., moved to a farm on the state line near Lamoni, Ia. Here they lived until the death of his parents in 1934 and 1937. Grace Laws and he were married July 2, 1916, at Princeton, Mo. They brought up the two daughters born to them on a farm nearby. In 1942 he boarded a plane to Anchorage, Alaska to help construct the Alaskan Highway. Later he assisted building the Panamanian Highway in Central America. McKim Saw Repair and Sales was opened 1944 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Lumbermills from all over that area of Missouri, Arkansas, and Illinois, came for new saw mills, parts, and service. Since retirement, his main interest was traveling by car. He and his wife Grace covered most of the United States. They celebrated their Golden Anniversary in Decatur, Ga. in 1966. Death came September 24, 1970, from a massive coronary thrombosis. Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Lucy Legorreta and Frances Olney; and brother, Harry. Surviving are his widow, Grace; daughters, Mildred Johnson, Osawatomie, Kan., and Florence Taylor, Decatur, Ga.; grandchildren, Judith Johnson Thomas, Susan Taylor Edmunds, and Michael Taylor; great-grandson, Michael Edmunds; sister Alice Walker of Elmhurst, Ill., half brother, Martin McKain of Seal Beach, Calif.; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at Poplar Bluff, Mo. by the Rev. John L. Gilbert on September 26, and burial rites were conducted at Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni, by the Rev.
