In 1900, Ray was living with his family on Railway Street in Washington Township, Harrison County, Iowa. Ray told the clerk he had been born in Yorkshire, Iowa, and was currently farming in Douglas Township, Harrison County, Iowa. The clerk noted that this gray-eyed, man with dark brown hair was short and of medium build.
