Description	:	Ray Wiley passess away March 21 - Wray Gazette Ray Max Wiley was born the second of three sons on November 22, 1927 to Ernest and Agnes (Klie) Wiley on the farm near Hale. He attended Browning country school and graduated from Armel High School in 1944. He served his country from 1945 to 1947 and was stationed in the Philippines. Read More	Ray Wiley passess away March 21 - Wray Gazette Ray Max Wiley was born the second of three sons on November 22, 1927 to Ernest and Agnes (Klie) Wiley on the farm near Hale. He attended Browning country school and graduated from Armel High School in 1944. He served his country from 1945 to 1947 and was stationed in the Philippines. Ray played the trumpet and trombone in the 283rd Ground Forces Army Band. After his honorable discharge he returned to the family farm. On June 6, 1948 he was united in marriage to Dolores Rae Couse in the Methodist Church of St. Francis, KS. They made their home in St. Francis for a short time. In 1949 Ray and Dolores moved to the farm three miles north of Hale and farmed with his father Ernest and brothers Ward and Royce. Ray served on several boards including the St. Francis Equity and Arikaree Gound Water Board. He was a member of the St. Francis Masonic Lodge and a active member of the Armel Methodist Church and after it closed transferred his membership to the St. Francis Christian Church. In later years he took up the game of golf and was a regular with his buddies in many area golf tournaments. He died March 21, 1996 at the Cheyenne County Hospital after a valiant battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Agnes; father-in-law and mother-in-law Harold and Edna Couse; sister-in-law Jeauanne Nolan and daughter-in-law Barbara Wiley. Ray will always live in our hearts and if fondly remembered by family and friends for his gentle smile and soft whistle. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. March 25 at the Frist Christian Church in St. Francis with Joe Briseno as officiant. Interment was in the St. Francis Cemetery with arrangements by Knodel Funeral Home, St. Francis. Gravesite: Section 6B lot 42
