Description	:	The Recorder March 4, 2005 Ray Mullenax, 89, of Bridgewater and formerly of Highland County, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Bridgewater Retirement Community. He was born May 29, 1915 at Blue Grass, a son of the late William Arthur and Harriet Sponaugle Mullenax. On June 2, 1937, he married Thelma Gertrude Mullenax, who preceded him in death on March 29, 2003. He was also predeceased by five brothers, Oliver, Howard, William, Floyd and George Mullenax, and three sisters, Ethel Rexrode, Stella and Hazel Mullenax. He was born May 29, 1915 at Blue Grass, a son of the late William Arthur and Harriet Sponaugle Mullenax. On June 2, 1937, he married Thelma Gertrude Mullenax, who preceded him in death on March 29, 2003. He was also predeceased by five brothers, Oliver, Howard, William, Floyd and George Mullenax, and three sisters, Ethel Rexrode, Stella and Hazel Mullenax. Mr. Mullenax was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church. He retired from Virginia Department of Transportation after 31 years of service and he was a farmer in Hightown. He had also worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps. Mr. Mullenax was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by two daughters, Phyllis M. McKee of Rowan, N.C. and Harriet M. and husband Fred B. Cox of Mt. Sidney; two sons, Glenn W. Mullenax of Hayes and James M. Mullenax of Staunton; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The Rev. Donald Long will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m., Friday, March 4 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell. Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery.
