Mr. Rhymer was born in Asheville, NC, May 1, 1920, a son of the late Zebual Hardy Rhymer and Ella Alexander Rhymer. He retired from Rhymer and Littlejohn in Spartanburg and was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church. Mr. Rhymer was born in Asheville, NC, May 1, 1920, a son of the late Zebual Hardy Rhymer and Ella Alexander Rhymer. He retired from Rhymer and Littlejohn in Spartanburg and was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife of sixty-eight years are two daughters: Brenda Rhymer Smith of Wilson, NC and Jean Hansson and husband Dick of Greenville, NC; a sister, Lois Middlebrooks; a twin brother, Gay Rhymer both of Union; four grandchildren: Melanie Smith Young and husband Hal of Smithfield, NC, Edward Smith and wife Stepheni of Shanghai, China, Eric Hansson and Richard Hansson both of Greenville, NC; nine great-grandchildren: John, Caleb, Matthew, Samuel, Seth, David, Susannah and Katherine Young all of Smithfield, NC and Rachel Smith of Shanghai, China. Mr. Rhymer was predeceased by five sisters and three brothers. Graveside services will be held 2:30 PM Friday, October 16, 2009 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Benny Green. IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER, services will be held 2:30 PM Friday at SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held 1:00-2:15 PM Friday at SR Holcombe Funeral Home prior to the graveside service. Memorials may be made to Mon Aetna Baptist Church, 1431 Lockhart Hwy., Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home, 1707 Whitmire Hwy., Union.
