Description	:	Orangeburg - Ray Stevenson Nivens Sr., 86, of 1380 Dogwood Drive, died Wednesday, September 5, 2007. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Nivens was born in York, a son of the late Columbus Benjamin Nivens and Mary Francis Boyd Nivens. He was retired from PYA with 31 years of service. Mr. Nivens was born in York, a son of the late Columbus Benjamin Nivens and Mary Francis Boyd Nivens. He was retired from PYA with 31 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mrs. DeLaurie Hall Nivens, of Orangeburg; a daughter, Mrs. Kathryn 'Kathy' and husband Jim Huffman, of Orangeburg; a son, Mr. Ray 'Rhett' Nivens Jr., of Bishopville; brother, Louis Nivens and wife Betty, of Plano, Texas; sister, Catherine Templeton, of York; sister-in-law, Barbara Amick Nivens, of Leesville; grandchildren, Stephen Eason Tyson IV and wife Amy, James Christopher Huffman and wife Kim, Justin David Nivens, Lauren Nivens Summers and husband Mike; five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home. At other times, friends may call at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Jim (Kathy) Huffman, 1380 Dogwood Drive, Orangeburg. Memorials may be made to H.F. Mabry Center for Cancer Care, 1161 Cook Road, Orangeburg SC 29118 or to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 637, Orangeburg SC 29116.
