Description	:	GIBBON — Ray Wiley Winchester, 92, of Gibbon died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018, in Gibbon. Private graveside services were Oct. 20 at Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon. There was a joyous celebration in heaven when God called Ray Wiley Winchester home at the age of 92. Ray was born May 4, 1926, in Gibbon to James and Tillie (Keup) Winchester, the youngest of five. Read More	GIBBON — Ray Wiley Winchester, 92, of Gibbon died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018, in Gibbon. Private graveside services were Oct. 20 at Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon. There was a joyous celebration in heaven when God called Ray Wiley Winchester home at the age of 92. Ray was born May 4, 1926, in Gibbon to James and Tillie (Keup) Winchester, the youngest of five. He graduated from Gibbon High School in 1944. Ray continued the family vocation of farming his entire life, except for 1950-52 when he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Ray married Susan (Harvey) in 1983 and had two sons. James continues the family farm in Gibbon with his wife, Kristin, and sons, Ray, Eddie and Walter. Jake lives and works in Denver with his wife, Cristina. Ray’s proudest accomplishment was his family, and his greatest desire was to spend his remaining time with them. Ray enjoyed playing with play dough and decorating cookies with his grandchildren, sharing stories of his upbringing, playing pool and cards, and driving fast cars, like his 1956 Thunderbird. Ray is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan (Harvey); sons, James and Jake and their wives, Kristin and Cristina; grandsons, Ray, Eddie and Walter; his stepdaughter, Inez (McCallum) Branson; her children, Jason and Shannon; and another stepgrandson. Ray was preceded in death by his first wife, Lena “Dolly” (Warner); stepson, Douglas McCallum; parents, James and Tillie; and siblings, Lucille, Arthur “Jack,” Esther and Genevieve.
