He was born March 30, 1884, in Mount Ida, Kans., to Willard and Margery Gage, and graduated from Baker University. He was born March 30, 1884, in Mount Ida, Kans., to Willard and Margery Gage, and graduated from Baker University. After a year in medical school his eyes failed, and he was forced to discontinue his studies. On Dec. 28, 1904, he married Fannie Brown in Mount Ida. Mr. Gage had been a rural mail carrier in Kansas City and Mount Ida. He came to Upland, Calif., in 1922 where he was a postal clerk for 17 years. In 1938 he moved to Victorville as assistant postmaster, retiring in 1945. He had also engaged in farming. He was a member of the Victorville Lodge No. 634, F&AM and past master of the Upland Lodge No 419, F&AM. He was a member of the First Christian Church here. Mr. Gage is survived by his wife, Fannie, of Chico, two sons, Charles H. who is building inspector for the city, and Paul of Santa Monica; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Wilma Dinger, preceded him in death. ~~~ Chico Enterprise-Record, Thursday, March 7, 1957, pg 2: Final rites for Ray W. Gage, Chico resident who died yesterday morning, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Christian church. Rev. Glenn Riddell will officiate. Interment will be in Chico Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Case Chapel.
