Description	:	Ray Winfield Houston, 67, passed away Sunday, Oct 10, 1999, falling to the hands of cancer. Ray was born Feb. 19, 1932 in the Aeneas Valley, east of Tonasket. Ray lived most of his life around the Omak area. He graduated from Omak High School in 1951 where he was a stand-out half-miler in track. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1956. Read More	Ray Winfield Houston, 67, passed away Sunday, Oct 10, 1999, falling to the hands of cancer. Ray was born Feb. 19, 1932 in the Aeneas Valley, east of Tonasket. Ray lived most of his life around the Omak area. He graduated from Omak High School in 1951 where he was a stand-out half-miler in track. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1956. He then returned to Omak where he was employed by Bile-Coleman for 15 years, then moved to the Renton area for a short stint with Boeing, then worked on the construction of Coulee Dam, then returned to Omak where he worked for Omak Wood Products for 17 years prior to his retirement. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and classic car buff and was in the process of restoring a 1959 Ford with his good friend, Robert Wells. Ray was a member of the Lumber and Sawdust Maker Union, Friendly OK Car Club and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben C. Houston and Cosa Ellen Houston and his brother, B. Wayne Houston. He is survived by his closest relatives, brother, Leroy Houston of Electric City and sister, Naoma Kerr of Walla Walla. He also has numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 15, 1999 at 1 p.m. at the Precht-Harrison Chapel with Pastor Alex Pfitzer, officiant. Visitation will be held Thursday from 3-6 p.m. Interment will be at the Omak City Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Precht-Harrison Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
