Read More	Rayburn Leon Lohnes Halifax Herald 11/18/1997 LOHNES, Rayburn Leon - 82, Garden Lots, died Sunday, November 16, 1997, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Lunenburg, he was a son of the late Bernard and Selena (Tanner) Lohnes. In his earlier years, he was employed with George Anderson Grocery Store; Lunenburg Foundry & Engineering as a pipe fitter, and Atlantic Bridge Company. Later he worked with K.E. Crouse & Sons, Lunenburg, and the Attorney General's Department as a prothonatary of the Supreme Court and clerk of County Court. He served as justice of the peace for the Province of Nova Scotia until his death. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg, and director of Zion Lutheran Male Choir. He was a past member of the senior choir and Zion Lutheran Church Council. He was a past member of the B.G. Oxner Men's Choir and Lunenburg Citizens Band. He was a faithful member of the IOOF, serving all units of Oddfellowship. He served as grand master of the Atlantic Provinces (1975); grand patriarch (1980); grand representative for the Atlantic provinces to Sovereign Grand Lodge (1974-77) and (1980-81). He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 23, Lunenburg, and the Lunenburg Board of Trade, previously serving as secretary. He is survived by his wife, the former Jessie Bernice Knickle; daughter, Priscilla Gonzalez and husband Onofre; sons, George and wife Brenda, Dale and wife Lynne, all of Lunenburg; sisters, Beatrice (Mrs. Robert Rhind), Barbara (Mrs. William Risser), both of Lunenburg; grandchildren, Yvonne, Keith, Natasha, Felicia, Jason, Jared and Kelly; six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Margaret Leroux, Joan McCluskey; brothers, Murray, Fred and a brother in infancy. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg, with visitation today from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Douglas Moore officiating. Interment will be in Garden Lots Cemetery. Flowers from the immediate family only. Memorial donations may be made to IOOF Visual Research, Zion Lutheran Church, Garden Lots Cemetery or any charity.
