Raye was born in Marysville, Kansas, one of ten children, to Raymond and Alice Harrison McMahon, August 20, 1928. Raye married Carl Ellis, June 9, 1950, and to this union, a son James, was born. Read More	Raye McMahon Ellis passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014, surrounded by the love of her family. Raye was born in Marysville, Kansas, one of ten children, to Raymond and Alice Harrison McMahon, August 20, 1928. Raye married Carl Ellis, June 9, 1950, and to this union, a son James, was born. Carl passed away May 28, 1988. Raye and Carl were active members of St. Ann Catholic Church of Hiawatha, Kansas. Raye spent her life loving her family and community. She worked at A&W Drive Inn before going in partnership with her husband, Carl, who owned and operated C&R Auto Service for 24 years. During this time, Raye and Carl made sure every Halloween parade was represented by the best float of the 900 West Block! After they retired from the shop in 1986, Raye worked for Larry and Lucille Craig at L&L Drive Inn. She was famous for her broasted chicken, broasted potatoes, and coleslaw. Raye was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Jack, Patrick, Francis, Donald; three sisters: Mary, Faye, Carol Ann; and a grandson David... The family will receive friends at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home from 10-10:45 a.m. Wednesday, November 26. The parish rosary will be recited at 10:45 with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. Father Dan Gardner will officiate. Private family inurnment take place at a later date in Beattie. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Raye Ellis Memorial Fund which may be sent in care of the funeral home, 124 S 7th St., Hiawatha 66434.
