Description	:	RAYETTA “Raye” IRENE McCAULEY, 84, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Meritus Medical Center. She was born July 31, 1931, in Williamsport, Md., to her mother, Florence “Sis” E. McCauley, and her father, Samuel L. McCauley. She was a 1949 graduate of Williamsport High School in Williamsport, Md., and a graduate of Hagerstown Community College. Rayetta began her military service in the U.S. Navy in 1951. Read More	RAYETTA “Raye” IRENE McCAULEY, 84, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Meritus Medical Center. She was born July 31, 1931, in Williamsport, Md., to her mother, Florence “Sis” E. McCauley, and her father, Samuel L. McCauley. She was a 1949 graduate of Williamsport High School in Williamsport, Md., and a graduate of Hagerstown Community College. Rayetta began her military service in the U.S. Navy in 1951. She proudly served her country during the Korean War and retired from active duty in 1956. She continued to serve her country as a member of the Navy League, holding the position of national convention coordinator, as well as working for the U.S. House of Representatives. She also worked for Sen. Victor Cushwa, Fairchild and Northrop Grumman. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel L. McCauley. In addition to her mother, Florence E. (Harsh) McCauley, she is survived by her sisters, Amy Myers, Joan V. Miller Barbara Jacob and Wanda Wheeler; her brothers, Earl S. McCauley, Walter L. McCauley; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends whom she considered her family. Rayetta had a great love for her family. She was quite a go-getter, and loved traveling, reading, and listening to Frank Sinatra, and enjoyed playing tennis and card games. Family and friends are welcome to join in celebrating Raye’s life at a graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Williamsport, Md. Arrangements were made by J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, Md.
