Raymond was born on August 28, 1914 at Aredale, to George and Mary Sheppard Armfield. He was educated in Franklin County schools. On August 21, 1934, he married Lena Kroll in Hampton. Raymond was a farmer and retired in 1978. He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards and spending time with family. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Donna and husband, Maurice Wolf of Hampton; a son, Ronald and wife, Sally of Victoria, Texas; two brothers, Kenneth of Latimer and Russell of Clear Lake; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded by his parents; a daughter, Patricia; and a brother, Donald.
