McNamara, 79, physician who served this community 48 years. He died Friday at Dodge, where he had resided the past several months. The Rev. Timothy Lange, South Sioux City, Nebr., offered the requiem high mass. Pallbearers were Joseph Hofmaier Fordyce, Edwin Tauer, Herman Plantenberg, Gerald Spawn, Dr. Donald Hofmaier and Alton Gobel. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wisner, under the direction of Chittenden Funeral Home, Wisner. The Rev. Norbe Boland Wisner, officiated at the graveside. The color guard and firing squad of the Crofton Legion post served as an honor guard. "Dr. Mac", as he was known here, was born August 24, '89 at Beemer, son of Mr. and Mrs. James McNamara. He graduated from Creighton College of Medicine, Omaha, and interned at St. Mary's Hospital, San Francisco, 1915. Following internship, he located at Newcastle, Neb., for a short time then moved to Wynot, where he practiced until called into service in 1917. He served as first lieutenant in the medical corps until 1919. In September of 1919 he purchased the practice of Dr. R.E. Robinson, located above the Corner Drug Store here. Among his hobbies were the raising of the Poland China hogs, and turkeys, which he began shortly after coming to Crofton. About 1930, he purchased a farm at the east edge of town, remaining there until his retirement in 1967, due to ill health. He married Mary Theresia Tramp of Fordyce at Madison, S. Dak., May 39, 1935, by the Rev. Eugene J. Egan. He is survived by a brother, George, Beemer, 3 nephews, Gerald, Denver, Colo., Fred and James, Beemer, and 6 nieces, Miss Margaret McNamara, Owensboro, Ky., Mrs. Katherine Von Seggern, Miss Patricia McNamara, both of Omaha, Mrs. Alice Brown, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Don Lueninghoener, Stanton, and Mrs. A.H. Marshall, Trinidad, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife who died in 1955, 2 sisters, Lydia and Mary, and 4 brothers, Msgr. John J. McNamara, who died in 1949, Edward and Frank a brother who died in infancy. He was a member of Knights [remained of newspaper article is missing].
