Tenney, 66, former lumberyard manager, lounge owner and real estate associate, died Thursday (Jan. 5, 1984) at a Mason City hospital. Mr. Tenney of 411 14th SE, worked as a bookkeeper, office manager, estimator and draftsman at the L.A. Moore Lumber Co. here until 1941. Then he worked for the Department of Commerce Aircraft Communications until 1948 where he did radio, weather and clerical work. He later became assistant manager of the Farm and Town Lumber Yard, Mason City. From 1962-1975, he was manager and part-owner of Cashway Lumber Store, Mason City, and also owned Esther and Ray's Lounge in Rockwell. FOr the past seven years he had worked in real estate with the Art Rodriguez Co. He was born March 12, 1917, in Dougherty to William and Hannah (O'Donnell) Tenney. He graduated from St. Patrick's High School, Dougherty, in 1934 and from Hamilton Business College, Mason City, in 1936. He married Esther Staaf in Sioux Falls, S.D. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rockwell, BPOE Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, 4th-degree Knight's of Columbus and the Mason City Multiple Listing Real Estate Group. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Joseph Slepicka officiating. The body will be cremated and burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, Mason City. The family requests memorials be given to the R.B. "Ray" Tenney Memorial Fund. Survivors include his wife, Esther; one daughter, Mrs. Robert A. (Kathy) Goldberg, Chicago, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Eleanor Williams, West Salem, Wis.; one sons, Michael Tenney, Mason City; one stepson, Norman Faeth, La Crescent, Minn.; 10 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Ann Herold, Ukiah, Calif.
