Description	:	Raymond Bert Harding, 80, Smithland, Iowa passed away peacefully Sunday, November 27, 2011 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Whiting Christian Church at Whiting with Ken Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Little Sioux Township Cemetery at Smithland. Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at Rush Family Care Service at Onawa, Iowa. The family will be present 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Raymond was born January 27, 1931 at O'Neill, Nebraska, the son of Lloyd and Anna (Johnson) Harding. He was raised in the Anthon-Oto area and was a lifelong resident of Woodbury and Monona Counties. He drove truck for Peter's Trucking and Harding Trucking and was also a farmer. He married Marcena Peterson May 4, 1951 and later married Myrna Peterson-Payne June 24, 1999. He was a member of Whiting Christian Church and various Saddle Clubs. He loved the beauty of nature, enjoying the trees around him, spending time with family and friends, his horses, hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife Myrna of Smithland; three daughters, Carolyn (Ken) Carlson of Onawa, Kathleen Gries of Sloan and Peg (Denny) Allen of Salix, IA; step children, Dennis (Laura) Payne of Cushing, IA, Daniel Payne of Livonia, MI and Donald (Stacy) of Hornick, IA; 5 grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and a brother, Leonard of Whiting. He was preceded in death by his parents; a step daughter, Darnel Payne; three brothers, Alvin, Jim and Bernard; two sisters, Donna Ray "Tootie" and Verna and a great grandson, Gabrielle Runge.
