Description	:	Son of George and Anna (Schmitt) Salber. On Aug. 24, 1953, he was united in marriage to Laura Mae Borer at St. John's Catholic Church in Petersburg. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife of St. Edward; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Don and Kathy of Albion, Dennis of Grand Island, Dan and Christy, and Doug, all of Albion; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Diane and Jim Molt Albion, Doris Kolm and special friend, Ben Rutten, of Cedar Rapids, Debra and Paul Kyncl of Albion, Darlene and Gary Dethlefs of Rockville, Donna and Mike Pfeifer of Lindsay, Delora and Mark Clemen of Greene, Iowa; 28 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter; two brothers: Leonard Salber of Browerville, Minn., and Robert Salber of Little Falls, Minn.; two sisters, Lucille Lordeman of Omaha and Sister Agnes Salber of Wennibego. Additional survivors include many other relatives and friends. Ray attended elementary, grade school and high school at St. John Berchman at Raeville. He entered the United States Army in February of 1945 and served in the Philippine Islands until his discharge in October of 1946. Ray and Laura farmed in the Petersburg area until 1955, when they moved to the Albion area. They lived and farmed near Albion until 1986 when they moved into town. Ray's hobbies included fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion, American Legion Post 162 and VFW Post 736, and the Knights of Columbus in Albion. In November of 2004, Ray entered the Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward. It was there where he passed away on Monday, March 22, 2010, at 85 years of age. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Celestine and Sister Anella; four brothers, Wilfred, Clarence, Jerome and Joe.
