Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg, with the Rev. Ken Hay and the Rev. Frank Hay officiating. Burial will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg, with military honors. Pallbearers will be the military. He was born Feb. 6, 1933, in Berwick, Pa., a son of the late Lester Shultz and the late Arlene Sitler Shultz. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant; he was a retired principal from Edisto High School; a former mayor of Cordova; former Lyons Club member and he attended Rivelon Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Tyler; a brother, Larry Shultz; and a sister, Marie Cornell. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Betty Vaughan Shultz of the home; two daughters, Kathy Shultz of the Bolentown community and Dr. and Mrs. Robert (Kimberly) Biederman of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Holly (Shane) Hallowell of Summerville, Brittani Biederman, Addison Biederman and Carolyn Biederman, all of Pittsburgh, Daniel Shultz and John Shultz, both of Waukegan, Ill.; a great-grandchild, Kaitlyn Hallowell of Summerville; a son, Keith (Haydee) Shultz of Waukegan; three sisters, Patsy Terwinkler of Bloomsburg, Pa., Donna Whiteknight of Berwick and Marilyn Young of Maryland; a brother, Benjamin shultz of Berwick; and a sister-in-law, Henrietta Shultz of Berwick. Visitation was held March 30, 2010 at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Orangeburg. Loved by all who knew him. He was a kind and gentle soul and kind to anyone who crossed his path. Rest well kind gentleman.
