Raymond was born on Aug. 29, 1940 in Stapleton, Neb. to Frank and Ethel (Gill) Kramer and received his education at the District 54 White Plains School and Gandy and Stapleton schools and graduated from Stapleton High School. He attended college in Milford, Neb. and graduated as a Diesel mechanic. Raymond entered the military service on Sept. 17, 1962. Throughout his 27-year career, he was trained and proficient in at least five separate MOS’s (Military Occupation Specialty). He retired from the Nebraska National Guard on September 16, 1989 as an E-7 Sergeant First Class from HHB(Det. 1) 1/168th FA, Scottsbluff. He served as a Federal Civil Service Technician at the OMS #9 National Guard Armory in Gering, NE as a Heavy Mobil Equipment Repairman.Raymond married Elvera Louise Cawley Dean Kramer on Nov. 27, 1971 at the First Baptist Church in Scottsbluff and made their home in Gering. He loved his family and spending time with them, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to go fishing and hunting. He was a Boy Scout Leader with Troop 15, awarded the brotherhood member in the Order of the Arrow. He was a volunteer firefighter, trained weather spotter, HAM radio operator, member of the American Legion, IOOF Western Lodge 229 and served on numerous boards of directors and volunteered in the community. He was preceded in death by parents; sister: Alta Faye; brothers: George and Joe Kramer; and grandson: Nathan Dean.
